THE DISENCHANTED FOREST is an intimate journey into the world of orangutans. Since the dawn of time, orangutangs have lived high in the canapy of the rainforrests of Borneo and Sumatra. At the beginning of the 21st century, fewer than 15,000 orangutans remain in the world.
In this one-hour special narrated by Brooke Sheilds, we follow four orangutans, Gomez, Siti, Bento and Mono, and gain a unique understanding of a primate culture that is so reminiscent of our own. We also see how the degredation and fragmentation of the rainforrest, caused by forrest fires, insatiable logging, mining and land conversion, will pose the greatest threat to the continued survival of our closest great ape cousins.
